Pub of the Year 2008:  The Tom Cobley Inn dates from 1592, situated in the heart of the quiet Devon Village of Spreyton, close to Okehampton and Crediton, and it was from here that  Uncle Tom Cobley and his companions set out for Widecombe Fair in 1802, inspiring the famous song.  There is a gravestone close to the church porch recording a Thomas Cobley, 1762 - 1844.

Your hosts at The Tom Cobley are Roger and Carol Cudlip, who manage this fine hostelry personally. The Tom Cobley is as well known as a pub that serves fine beers (22 at the last count!), having been awarded Area Camra Pub of the Year 2006 and 2008, as it is for it's home cooked pub meals and Sunday Roast Lunch using fresh locally sourced produce, including an extensive vegetarian menu.
